Prompts that work

What to actually ask once the connector is attached, from reporting to a full build.

The weekly read

  • "Give me an overview of the account for the last 7 days against the 7 before it. Spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, and conversions."
  • "Break last week down by community and show me the five that spent the most, with cost per conversion."
  • "Which ads have the best click through rate in the last 14 days, and what is the headline on each?"

Ask for a table. The tools return structured data, so the numbers are real rather than remembered.

Finding waste

  • "Find every ad group that spent more than $50 in the last 14 days with no conversions, and show me its targeting."
  • "Which keywords or interests are in more than one ad group? I want to know where I am bidding against myself."
  • "Compare the feed placement against the comments page for the last 30 days."
  • "Show me the change history for the last two weeks and tell me which change lines up with the CPA moving."

Research before you build

  • "Search for subreddits about home espresso and show me size and relevance for each."
  • "Suggest communities and keywords for an ad group selling a note taking app to developers."
  • "What is the bid suggestion for a conversions ad group targeting those communities in the United States?"

Building, safely

Creating needs the safe tier, which you grant by typing ENABLE WRITES. Everything created is paused.

  • "Create a paused traffic campaign called Q4 Espresso, one ad group at $10 a day targeting those five communities, and a text ad with this headline and this link."
  • "Copy the two best performing ads from ad group A into ad group B, paused, and change the click URL to this one."
  • "Read the new ad group back to me and confirm the targeting, the budget, and the start time."

That last one is worth making a habit. Configured status is what was set, effective status lags by minutes, so read back rather than trusting the write.

Changing spend

Budgets, bids, targeting, and enabling delivery need the spend tier, granted by typing ENABLE SPEND CHANGES.

  • "Raise the daily budget on the two ad groups under a $20 CPA to $40, and leave everything else alone."
  • "Pause every ad with a CTR under 0.3 percent and more than $25 spent in the last 14 days."
  • "Set me back to read only."

Two habits worth keeping

Name the account and the date range in the first message of a session, because the assistant will otherwise ask or, worse, pick. And ask for the plan before the action when a change touches more than one entity: "list what you would change, then wait."

Reddit Ads MCP connects your Reddit Ads account to Claude or ChatGPT, so the work in this post becomes a question you ask instead of a report you build. Start a 7-day free trial on your own ad account, then pay $12 a month. See what it does.
