The Reddit Ads MCP server

One connector that puts a Reddit Ads account inside an assistant, and what it is allowed to do there.

What it is

A Reddit Ads MCP server is a service that speaks the Model Context Protocol on one side and the Reddit Ads API on the other. You connect it once to Claude, ChatGPT, or any other MCP client, sign in with the Reddit account that manages your ads, and the assistant can then read the account and change it by calling typed tools instead of guessing at HTTP requests.

Reddit Ads MCP is a hosted one. Nothing is installed, nothing runs on your laptop, and there is no API key to paste. The server URL is https://mcp.redditadsmcp.com/mcp and the sign in is Reddit's own OAuth.

What it can do

More than sixty tools, covering the Reddit Ads work this connector supports.

  • Read. Ad accounts, campaigns, ad groups, ads, creative, targeting, audiences, pixels, funding, the change history, and performance reports by day, community, interest, keyword, placement, and device.
  • Compare. Period against period and ad against ad, without building a report first.
  • Change. Budgets, bids, targeting, click URLs, names, status. Pause, enable, archive, copy.
  • Create. Campaigns, ad groups, posts with image, video, carousel, or text creative, and the ads that point at them.
  • Audiences. Custom audiences, including hashed email lists, and conversion events sent to a pixel.

The point is not any one tool. It is that a question like "which ad groups spent over $50 last week with no conversions, and what are they targeting" is one sentence, and the answer comes back with the targeting already looked up.

What it is not allowed to do

An assistant with write access to an ad account is a real risk, so access arrives in three tiers and a new connection starts at the bottom.

TierWhat it allowsHow it is granted
ReadNothing in the account can change.Where every connection starts.
SafeReversible or additive changes: create paused entities and posts, pause, archive, rename, copy, previews, comments, audiences, conversion events. You type ENABLE WRITES in the conversation.
SpendAnything that can start or increase spend, plus deletes: enable delivery, budgets, bids, targeting, click URLs.You type ENABLE SPEND CHANGES.

Everything the connector creates is born paused, whatever the tier. Every change is written to a log on your account page, with what changed, when, and whether it worked. You can drop back to read only at any time.

Questions

Does it work with ChatGPT as well as Claude?
Yes, and with anything else that speaks MCP over HTTP.
Do I need Reddit Ads API credentials?
No. The server holds the OAuth grant. You never see an API key and neither does the model.
Can the assistant spend my money by accident?
Not without the spend tier, which you enable with an exact phrase, and even then new entities start paused.
Is there a free or open source option?
Yes, several, with different tradeoffs. They are compared here.
What does it store?
Your Reddit identity, an encrypted access grant, your subscription state, and the change log. No card numbers.

Reddit Ads MCP connects your Reddit Ads account to Claude or ChatGPT, so the work in this post becomes a question you ask instead of a report you build. Start a 7-day free trial on your own ad account, then pay $12 a month. See what it does.
